The United Benefice of Withington, Sevenhampton with Charlton Abbots, Hawling, Whittington, Dowdeswell and Andoversford, Shipton and Cold Salperton

St Michael & All Angels' Church, Withington

The parish includes the village of Withington, and the smaller village of Foxcote on the Andoversford border, with a combined population of about 600.

The Grade 1 listed Norman church of St Michael’s, the largest in the benefice, is carefully and lovingly maintained.

Withington PCC is most grateful to The Axel and Margaret Ax:son Johnson Foundation for its generous grant of £45,000

The grant is to further its work of preserving aspects of cultural heritage. This will also help us to sustain a regular congregation which therefore helps to preserve our wonderful, historic building.

The Swedish foundation Axel and Margaret Ax:son Johnson Foundation for Public Benefit are in the process of establishing a research centre at Manor Hall under the direction of  Dr Mattias Hessérus. The foundation is a private foundation with the primary purpose of promoting scientific and scholarly research in general. Its  focus today is on the humanities and social sciences.
